Visitors typically fly into Raleigh (RDU) as it’s the closest major airport and just 70 miles north of Southern Pines Golf Club. The nearby Jefferson Inn in the town of Southern Pines serves as an excellent base for golfers and 1906 Grill at the Club serves golfers a variety of healthy or hearty breakfasts and lunches to fuel up.

The Kansas City Chiefs star is enjoying some much-needed downtime after the grind of another NFL season, which ended in Super Bowl heartbreak last month.
Kelce fled to Pinehurst, the iconic golf course that has hosted major championships in the past, to play a round with Chiefs teammate and best friend Mahomes.
Word quickly spread in the area surrounding Pinehurst that the NFL duo were in town and a large group of fans gathered to watch.
As the crowd formed around one green to watch them play, a joking Kelce decided to bend over and show off his butt in front of the cameras.
A keen golfer, Kelce nailed a putt in front of the supporters which prompted huge cheers.

Kelce was later filmed speaking to some younger fans by the clubhouse before he headed inside.
It comes after DailyMail.com exclusively reported last week that Taylor Swift, 35, was 'in hiding', holed up with Kelce and cutting contact with many of her closest friends.

It was announced earlier this week that Travis and brother Jason will once again play in the American Century Championship this summer - one year after the Chiefs icon accidentally struck a fan with a golf ball.
The Kelce brothers both competed in the celebrity golf tournament last year, joining the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Charles Barkley and Miles Teller over in Lake Tahoe.
And less than four months out from the 2025 edition, the ACC confirmed that Travis and Jason are heading back there this summer to take part again.
Along with a video of the pair on the course, the ACC wrote on Instagram: 'Time to get pumped: the Kelce brothers, Travis and Jason, are back in town for the tournament this year!'
Travis will be hoping for better fortunes this time around after finishing down in 63rd place out of 90 and leaving a spectator bloodied when he accidentally hit them in the crowd.
The three-time Super Bowl winner was on the 16th hole at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course when his drive struck 37-year-old woman Katie Hauss in the back of the head. One eyewitness told PEOPLE that streaks of blood could be seen in her blonde hair.
While his younger brother didn't exactly cover himself in glory on -10, Jason finished the championship fourth from bottom in the standings on -51.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C., Feb. 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- North Carolina's largest county-wide scavenger hunt is back. The popular Pinecone Pathways program is returning to Moore County and will run from March 20-April 22, 2025. The program was created by the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) in partnership with glassmakers from Starworks in Star, NC. Starting on the first day of spring, 100 colorful glass pinecones will be hidden along trails throughout Moore County for a five-week period concluding on Earth Day (April 22).
"Pinecone Pathways has quickly become the most popular annual event we support," said CVB President and CEO Phil Werz. "Last year, we saw people from a number of states making the trip to the Pinehurst area and Moore County to spend a couple days searching for these unique glass treasures. Given the program starts on the first day of spring, it's a great way to get outside on our trails, enjoy exercise and hopefully realize the excitement of finding a rare glass pinecone."
This year, the CVB has added a special community event to celebrate the start of the program. On Tuesday, March 18 from 5:30-7:00pm, the CVB will host the Pinecone Pathways Kickoff Party at the Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities in Southern Pines. There will be special announcements, a meet and greet with glassmakers from Starworks, a pop-up market, musical entertainment by Whiskey Pines and a variety of food trucks for everyone to enjoy.
Glass pinecones will be hidden in weekly increments of 20 for five weeks along selected trail systems throughout Moore County. Each week, a new series of trails will be announced via social media alerting pinecone hunters as to what trails they should explore to find a pinecone. The pinecones will be tagged with a special number and QR code, so those finding them can register them and be eligible to win a prize including a two-night stay in the Pinehurst area and other fun prizes. The pinecone image must be registered online to be eligible for the grand prize drawing. Finders can be any age, but the person claiming the grand prize must be 21 years of age or older.
Because there will only be a limited number of pinecones to be found in the program, the CVB asks that finders only keep one and any additional ones found remain hidden on the trail. Only one contest registration per household will be permitted.

Below are some of the key initiatives the Village is currently undertaking.
1. Update to the Pinehurst Development Ordinance Department: Planning Cost: $216,625
The Village is updating the Pinehurst Development Ordinance to align with the priorities outlined in the 2019 Comprehensive Plan and to create a unified development ordinance. The contract for the project has been approved, a focus group has been selected, and a consultant is set to tour the Village with staff to gather insights and guide the update.
2. Redevelopment of Village Place Department: Administration Cost: Unknown
To facilitate additional development within Village Place, the Village is currently collaborating with the county to explore options for their EMS building. This redevelopment is poised to support continued growth and vibrancy in the area.
3. Expansion and Renovation of Given Memorial Library/Tufts Archives Department: Library/Administration Cost: $5,600,000 – $8,000,000
The expansion of the Given Memorial Library and Tufts Archives aims to create a larger, more accessible space for residents. The project is currently under review by the Technical Review Committee, and it is expected to be bid in the near future. 4. New Fire Facility Department: Fire Cost: $400,000 for design (FY 2028)
As identified by the fire department’s BIRDIE report in FY 2020, the need for an additional fire station was recognized to enhance service delivery and meet performance standards. Staff is currently reviewing and updating the 2020 report, and a presentation to the Village Council is planned for February or March.
5. Multi-Modal Transportation Improvements Department: Planning Cost: $100,000 budgeted; Plan to do in-house for $0
The Village is combining its transportation plans into one comprehensive multi-modal document aimed at improving accessibility for bicycles, pedestrians, and golf carts. This plan is currently under review by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC). Additionally, as part of the plan, bids for sidewalk construction along Juniper Creek Boulevard in the Pinehurst No. 6 neighborhood have been received.
6. Retrofitting Athletic Fields with Synthetic Turf Department: Parks and Recreation Cost: $1,326,663
The Village is retrofitting its athletic fields with synthetic turf to reduce maintenance time and costs while addressing the short-term need for additional fields. The project is on track to be completed before spring sports begin, with an expected finish by the last week of February – one week ahead of schedule.
7. Short-Term Rental Monitoring and Compliance Department: Administration, Planning & Inspections Cost: $40,000
To enforce the recently adopted Ordinance #22-15, which prohibits new short-term rentals, the Village has contracted with Granicus to implement monitoring software. This tool will help ensure compliance, and the software is expected to launch in April.
Additional Noteworthy Projects:
Downtown Parking: The Village is developing a comprehensive plan to address parking needs in the downtown area.
Document Imaging: Staff is being trained on new software to digitize documents, streamlining workflows and improving efficiency.
Highway 5 Improvements: The Village is collaborating with NCDOT to plan future improvements to the Highway 5 corridor.
Traffic Circle Improvements: Ongoing discussions with NCDOT are taking place as alternatives for the traffic circle are being developed.
Electronic Time-Keeping System: The Village is in the process of implementing a digital timekeeping system to improve accuracy and workforce efficiency.
Cannon Park Lighting: In an effort to reduce energy consumption and light pollution, the Village has replaced the lights at Cannon Park with energy-efficient LEDs, cutting electricity usage by nearly 50%.
