MOUNT AIRY, NC - A violent head on collision occurred on July 9, 2012 in Mount Airy, NC. The Monday morning accident occurred on Reeves Mill Road and involved two vehicles and 3 individuals. According to accident investigation and news reports, Ms. Annie Potts was driving an Oldsmobile Cutlass when she pulled across the center line and collided into a Mazda pick-up truck, driven by Tina Smith. James Blevins was a passenger in the Mazda pick-up. Ms. Potts suffered serious injuries that required helicopter transport to Wake Forest Baptist Health Center in Winston Salem, NC. Ms. Smith was taken by ambulance to also receive care for her personal injuries at Wake Forest Baptist Health Center. Both drivers were pinned in their respective vehicles and had to be extricated by the rescue squad. The accident is still under investigation and charges are pending.
